Introduction

Well Developed: Section comprises (a) ONE paragraph comprising (b) a minimum of 3 sentences that includes (c) a brief explanation of the purpose of the Abstinence Project, (d) identification of the substance/ behavior from which the student abstained for the project, and (e) a preview of the content included in the paper.

The Anticipation

Well Developed: Section comprises (a) TWO PARAGRAPHS, each of which (b) has at least 3 sentences, and content includes student’s (c) process of selecting the substance/behavior of abstinence, and (d) thoughts/ feelings about the undergoing the project before beginning it.

The Journey

Well Developed: Section comprises (a) a minimum of THREE PARAGRAPHS, each of which (b) has at least 3 sentences, and discussion includes student’s (c) obstacles to abstinence during the semester, (d) relapse-related experiences, and (e) experiences related to 12-step group meetings.

The Result

Well Developed: Section comprises (a) a minimum of FOUR PARAGRAPHS, each of which (b) has at least 3 sentences, and discussion includes (c) student’s self-evaluation of success with the project, (d) a GIFT and a LESSON the student acquired through the experience, (e) student’s evaluation of 12-step recovery philosophy, and (f) ways the experience might impact the student’s future work as a counselor.
