Healthcare mergers and patient benefits

 80% of hospitals in the US are nonprofit corporations.  In class we discussed four different ways that corporations can join forces.  These include mergers, acquisitions, consolidations or joint ventures.  Which type of joining of forces do you think could be most likely to be used to benefit patients and why?  Search on the internet and find at least one example of a healthcare organization joining forces with another organization that resulted in benefits to patients.  Remember to include the link in your post.
