Health Information Management
More and more healthcare payers are utilizing bonus and incentive programs for physicians and other providers. Discuss these programs, and share your own views about them. Is it a good idea to financially reward doctors for meeting certain performance targets, or should clinical practice decisions be kept separate from the doctors' financial compensation?

I honestly think providing bonuses and having incentive programs for physicians and other providers is great. Rewarding someone for doing a good job will always increase the moral of a health care facility. When I work at a pediatric dental office in Charleston, SC staff members were rewarded for meeting certain goals. Because I worked as a benefits coordinator, my department was always rewarded for decrease collection accounts. Even though a person has a well paid job doesn't mean they shouldn't be rewarded. Becoming a health care provider takes a lot of time and money so a bonus can help pay off those students loans.
