Taking a detailed medical history is probably one of the most important things. It is there that the provider is made aware of any disease or chronic illness. It helps the patient receive an accurate diagnosis as well as proper treatment. Without this information, incorrect medications can be administered and a bad situation can be made worse. The EHR is a powerful tool that helps with the process of documenting everything with more detail and the information is separated according to history, treatment, etc. This makes the information easier to locate rather than having to flip papers around trying to find answers to prior treatments and ailments.
