While we would like to think that everyone has equal access to health care, as nurses it is important to consider the reality of how health care is distributed. Identification of distribution patterns contributes to an understanding of barriers to accessing health care that include geographic realities (urban vs. rural) and socio-economic inequities (insured vs. uninsured).
