"SamanthaL: As this course comes to a close, there was vital information that has impacted my professional development in clinical practice.  Being able to take all of the information learned in this twelve-week course influences how clinical skills will come into play. Being able to use all of the material provided, more thorough assessments and knowledge shared can be implemented.

            The information that was learned has impacted my abilities to conduct more thorough assessments on patients. The assessments and examinations that were learned in this course allows me to ensure that they are surrounding evidence-based approaches. By doing so, differential diagnoses can be more accurately obtained (Leonardsen, 2023). By using the foundational skills and core aspects of this course, more accurate and safer patient-centered care will be achieved. There are two examples of how we could improve physical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skills. The first example is to engage in practice and simulation. Any type of simulation-based training can give a nurse practitioner hands-on techniques and skills. This will help take complex situations and clinical scenarios and base them off of real-time. On the other hand, actively reviewing patient outcomes through feedback systems can be another way to improve assessment skills and diagnostic reasoning skills. Participating in debriefing sessions from clinicals can help identify any biases or areas that need reform (Taylor et al., 2021). These are two examples of how we can improve our skills and assessment techniques as a whole.

            Overall, this course has taught me a lot about physical assessments and the importance of knowing our patients. We need to ensure that we are utilizing evidence-based practice and clinical knowledge to provide patient-centered care. The care being provided needs to be done in a safe and effective way in order to achieve one’s optimal health. Applying all of the information learned throughout this course will help guide me to provide physical assessments on my patients in a logical, organized way.
