Group Experience Reflection

The purpose of this assignment is to get familiar with group dynamics by observing a live group session.

Attend a group of your choice. This may be something through your work, church, or elsewhere. Use one to two scholarly sources to write a 750-1,000-word reflection on the details and experience you had attending this group.

Address the following prompts in your reflection:

• Record the group name, date, time, and location.
• Describe the type of the group.
• Identify the number of attendees including an analysis of how this number affects group dynamics.
  
• Describe the stage of the group.
  
• Identify artifacts or resources utilized in the group meeting and explain how these artifacts or resources contributed to the functions of the group.
  
• Describe the leader's facilitation style including roles and functions of the group leader.
  
• Evaluate the two most effective aspects of the group.
  
• Identify two areas for improvement and explain how the group leaders can implement the improvement.
  
• Analyze how the functions of the group contributed to the overall group dynamic. 
  
• Reflect on how you will apply what you learned for when you facilitate groups in the future.
