With a majority of the world's population living in cities today,  finding healthy, humane ways to feed all of us is a vital challenge.

Neither of these pieces is offered with an agenda but rather as a  provocation to think about our relationships with food, the people who  produce it, the metabolism our food production requires and the biota  that provides our nutrients. Essentially, looking  through the lens of urban ecology offers us a way of seeing how each of  us participate in the planet's nutrient cycle.
