This is a two-part assignment: 1) Complete the Budget worksheet and 2) Submit a DETAILED Budget, in narrative form, that explains and justifies the costs and expenses of each item included in the grant. Remember, calculate your budget based upon one-year of operation. YOU MUST ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE REVENUE TOTAL MUST MATCH THE EXPENSE TOTAL. IF THE NUMBERS DO NOT MATCH, YOU HAVE SOMETHING OTHER THAN A GRANT.

Remember, use the book only as a guide. All worksheets and written submissions NEED to contain great amount of details where appropriate. One or two sentence responses in worksheets will likely result in a poor grade, so include lots of details.

Read Step 8 in the workbook and review the sample budgets contained in the sample proposals. There is a sample budget request involving Swim 4 Life of $310,800. Remember, a budget is a very important part of any grant proposal. Therefore, great care and research should go into the figures you submit for review.
