Govt Questions

1. Should the rights of minorities (numerical minorities of any kind) trump the rights of the majority, or visa versa?  Please include commentaries from the Federalist Papers as well as concepts developed by Madison and Jefferson.  Make sure to interconnect national security laws such as the Patriot Act and the National Homeland Security Act.  Please be specific in your defense of your selection.  Include what the role of government is regarding the protection of majority and minority rights. 2. What are the Federalist Papers?  Why were they written?  Why were they important when they were written?  Why are they important now?  How do they interrelate with the Articles of Confederation and our current Constitution?  Who wrote them? (3-4 pages)

3. Why did the USA Constitution replace the Articles of Confederation?  Please be as comprehensive and analytical as possible.  Cite sources beyond the textbook. (3-4 pages)

4. What makes the national Government of the USA so different compared to other countries?  Are the Bill of Limits relevant to you, if so how, if not why not?  (2-4 pages)
