DISCUSSION:

What is governance and compliance?  Why is it necessary to enforce governance and compliance in an organization? 

Governance and compliance sets how an organization will operate by implementing a governance framework. A governance framework will allow an organization the ability to identify, control and mitigate risks allowing them to reach their goals in the end and protect data. Governance and compliance are important to ensure a set of rules and guidelines set by the organizations senior management are understood by all levels and acted upon to ensure compliancy within their set policies. Compliance seeks to ensure the organization is abiding by its rules and policies set forth in order to protect the organization and their consumers and to mitigate risks and costs.
