Pretrial forensic-discovery requirements have changed in the United  States concerning the requirement for the forensic investigative party  to search for electronically stored information (ESI). Amendments now  require the forensics investigative party to search for ESI information  no matter where it is stored. Sometimes this information will be stored  in the European Union; therefore, the investigator must attempt to  acquire it from EU and include the specifics of this activity in the  forensics report. The chief technical officer (CTO) of your forensic company of 250  personnel would like you to draft a 5–6-page article for insertion into  the company newsletter, which should include the following:

1. An introduction to the contents of the article

2. Identification of the applicable legal constraints involving  the discovery of  stored personally identifiable EU member information  (also known as ESI)

3. How this is different than U.S. discovery law

4. How investigators should document (in compliance with EU discovery requirements) a forensic report

5. A conclusion summarizing the key points of the article
