1 in 3 women globally will experience physical, sexual or psychological violence during their lifetimes, most often at the hands of a partner. Identify the underlying causes of violence (chapter 2) and discuss how social roles theory (chapter 1) – differentiating between gender roles, norms, and stereotypes – may help us better understand and address gender violence.
