While one does not necessarily have to be older to exhibit or possess wisdom, wisdom is typically thought of as a benefit of aging. A study cited by Ananthaswamy, notes that the concept of wisdom has been the same for thousands of years. The six components of wisdom are listed as the ability to accept uncertainty, sturdy decision making, awareness of one's strengths and weaknesses, empathy, compassion, and selflessness (Ananthaswamy, 2016). Most of the components of wisdom are synonymous with resiliency and personality.
Personality has the ability to encompass wisdom, resilience, and well-being. Gorvett notes that our traits change and that our personalities develop over time (Gorvett, 2020). The way I understand it, wisdom, resilience and well-being make up one's personality along with their sense of humor and other things. All of those traits can change based on life experiences.
