Functionalism

Functionalism identifies 4 functions of family: Intimacy, Economic Cooperation, Socialization, and Sexual Regulation. 

Using materials we have studied so far in the course (both the text or within the modules), and other college level information sources (if you choose), describe how our families are meeting these functions. Additionally, explain how the fruits of these functions inform life partner selection in the US (the transition of primary focus shifting from family of orientation to family of procreation). What are the strengths and risks of emotion centered partner selection? Explain the primary causes of health and problems for relationships in the transition from singleness to partnered life.  3000 words
