After reading about the history of the French Revolution, discuss the origins and consequences of the so-called “dual revolution” (see Price, p. 98).  Choose three different examples of crises of participation and/or legitimation starting in the 1780s and ending before Napoleon’s rise to power. In your responses refer the Third Estate and the National Assembly, reform issues associated with the cahiers, seigneurial rights, the clergy, divisions among political factions including Montagnards, Girondins, Jacobins, the general process of radicalization, the Terror, the Vendée and the roots of conservative revolution.
