In his essay, “Real Men and Pink Suits”, author Charles Blow discusses the concept of what has come to be known as “toxic masculinity”. He writes “We have created this culture, and we can undo it”. Consider this concept when answering the question below.

To what extent are we shaped by the attitudes and beliefs of the society around us, and to what extent do any of us have the power to change it?

A successful essay will contain a strong thesis, a minimum of five (5) paragraphs, your own analysis supported by specific examples, and supporting quotes and citations from both Blow’s essay and at least one of the gender themed essays we discussed this semester (see below).
