Instructions: The writing exercises below are tools for connecting new knowledge with past knowledge and practicing new mechanisms for (or ways of) thinking. Writing prompt responses should be compiled into a single Microsoft Word document using 11pt font and single-line spacing. The first two questions should be answered in a minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 300 words. Prompt three’s response should be between 300 and 500 words and use at least 1 academic literature source that was not assigned for a module reading.

Prompt 2: Medical Sociology

What argument can be made for the existence of medical sociology in the world of health care and health research. In other words, what void does medical sociology fill in addressing the subjects of health, illness, and medicine? Use content from modules 3 and 4, as well as an example from your personal experience to support your response.

Prompt 3: Critical Thinking

How does education level impact health outcomes? Map the ways in which one’s educational attainment is connected to their exposure to and capabilities for dealing with adverse health events. Also consider ways that education impacts behavior, income, and other components of socioeconomic status to impact levels of health and illness and even life expectancy. Use assigned readings and at least 1 academic source that was not assigned for a module to support your response. You may use other readings from your course materials and “peer-reviewed” articles found using the AOK Library Article Search.
