For this essay you are to do a character analysis on two of the females in the novels we have read this semester:

The character, Mildred, in Fahrenheit 451

The character, Polly, in The Leavers

Discuss the similarities and differences of these two female characters, looking at the following factors:

• How would you describe her personality?
• What is her relationship to her husband? Her friends? Her children (if any)?
• What major conflicts does she experience?
• Does she change (grow or regress) throughout the course of the story?

Analyze these characters thoroughly, giving specific examples (pg. # if possible) to illustrate the points you make.
