These papers are meant to be 2-3 page reflections and explications of the text in question. Consult the reading questions for the associated text to get an idea of what sorts of topics are at issue in this text.

A successful response will summarize a given (central) argument from the text both by citing that text and explicating these arguments in your own words. Remember that the key here is to demonstrate your understanding of the text. How does the argument work? What do you make of that argument? What might you say to the author, if you could ask them a question? How might you defend the text against someone critiquing it?
