Discussion Question 1: Discrepancy in Job Description

Not every job starts out as your dream job. Peter Piper applies for an opening for a paralegal job that requires legal research and writing skills. During the interview the attorney asks how fast he types and tells him that his job would mainly consist of word processing and receptionist duties.

Based on the above information, respond to the following questions:

    Should Peter go on with the interview?

    What should Peter do to deal with this situation?

    Should he look for the work that he is qualified for or accept the job offered? Justify your answers with examples and reasoning.

On occasion, you will be asked to fill out job applications as part of the job search process.

 What should you do if you encounter an application with questions, such as your date of birth or marital status, which are considered illegal under the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)? 

What personal information, if any, should you provide in the application? Examine. Is there ever a case where you should continue the application process with a firm/company asking these illegal questions?
