expository easy
Food-Section Writing
This is your first paper for the semester—it is expository. You are to choose a food article or YouTube video from the Food folder and write a two-page paper over the subject presented in that article. You will incorporate the interview with Michael Pollan, “We Are What We Eat,” as evidence in your writing. Basically, the interview is one of your sources.
Your paper should identify the author’s main idea, and you should argue (not in first-person narrative) the merits of those claims. Although the paper is short, do not wait until the last minute to begin brainstorming, reading, and annotating.
The paper requirements are listed below.
Length: At least two-pages, double-spaced; Calibri, Arial, or Times New Roman font (12-pt.)
Procedure: Upload a copy through Blackboard
Definition for an expository essay:
Expository Essays: Just the Facts
The expository essay is an informative piece of writing that presents a balanced analysis of a topic. In an expository essay, the writer explains or defines a topic, using facts, statistics, and examples. Expository writing encompasses a wide range of essay variations, such as the comparison and contrast essay, the cause and effect essay, and the “how to” or process essay. Because expository essays are based on facts and not personal feelings, writers don’t reveal their emotions or write in the first person.
