Ethnology of Africa

Both of this week's readings are from the perspective of youth in two different places in Africa. Obviously, there are many different kinds of youth around the world, defined in different ways by social scientists and others who work with youth, and living in varied contexts. What are the similarities and differences between the youth described in the Life and Death of a Street Boy and the youth described in Tropical Fish? How would you explain this? Analyze how the various social issues discussed or referred to in each set of readings impacts the people in the readings (you could consider domestic violence, street violence, civil unrest, disease, love, hunger, etc.)
