Respond to the following in a minimum of 175 words:

The American Psychological Association outlines specific professional and ethical standards of practice to ensure that clients’ rights privacy are maintained, and the appropriate level of care is provided. Consider the following scenario:

Mary, a first-year psychologist, has had a particularly difficult year counseling at-risk youth. At a recent professional development conference, she met Martha, a more experienced psychologist at another agency nearby, who – after listening to Martha’s woes- offered some timely advice for a case Mary was working on. Over time, Mary has begun to confide in Martha and often seeks her advice in handling difficult or emotionally draining cases. Their friendship has grown, and Martha sometimes counsels Mary on personal matters as well.

From the information provided, do you believe that Mary and Martha have violated any professional or ethical guidelines or boundaries? Why or why not? What advice would you give Mary and Martha to ensure they maintain professional and ethical guidelines?
