Ethics

Below are a list of international non-profits.  Choose one (do not go away from this list) for this paper.  (I prefer you pick the one you are most interested in since I ask for your personal involvement within the paper). 

The idea of this paper is to look at the chosen non-profit from an ethical point of view.  Not really of whether it is run ethically, as we cannot look into the workings of the entity (unlike a public company the financials and other important information is not public), but instead looking at the purpose/activites of the non-profit and its place in helping others be ethical or ethically minded.

Document the following for me regarding the non-profit you have selected:

 - Provide an introduction to the non-profit.  What do they represent, how, and why?  A little history might be appropriate.  [1/2 to 1 page max].

 - What is the mission of the non-profit.  If it has a vision statement please include that.  [could be one paragraph as part of the above or an additional one or two paragraphs]

 - Who are the stakeholders?    Include ALL stakeholders and tell me why they are stakeholders.  [Yes this is a tricky question].  We addressed stakeholders early on in the course.  [1/2 page max]

 - Who are the leaders providing titles as well as names [some are obvious and some might not be so obvious, you determine who is and how many there are].  I would prefer more than few as non-profits are never really led by one or two individuals. [a sentence or two combined with the below]

 - Pick the top leaders - those who run the non-profit on a regular basis and provide an example (not description) of their leadership qualities/style (I would not think any are that transactional). Remember we are looking at this from an ethical standpoint so any "ethical type" activities  that you consider would represent their style.  Don't give me a long list of activities.  This will require some separate research on the individual(s) identified.  [Part of the item above, this is about a page or 1.25 pages]

 - Identify the goals and challenges of this non-profit and apply them to sustainable development.  I want you to organize this answer in the following categories:  economic, social and environmental.  I realize that your selection might not cover all three or even two, but try your best to see if it applies to at least two (you must certainly select the one that it is most obvious and then see if another is indirectly applicable).  [at least one page]

 - Explain how the efforts of this non-profit apply to global citizenry.  Use terms and concepts in the book/slides/video to support your detail of the application. [1/2 to one page]

 - How would you get involved with this organization?  [1/2 page]

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS - READ CAREFULLY 

This paper has a limit of 5 pages.  I would expect no less than 3.5 pages.

·  Don't repeat the questions but instead, as in a research paper, lead each section off with a good introduction that rephrases the question.

·  You MUST use basic references for items quoted or copied.  Not APA or MLA but simply give me the website or document abbreviation.

·  You must have a list of references in the back of the paper.

·  Write the paper in 12 point font with normal breaks.

·  No big paragraphs.  Break up the paragraphs so it is easy for the reader (not the writer).

·  Organize the paper with headers for each section, so it is easy for the reader to follow. 

·  Spelling and grammar are always part of the grading.

Not following any of the instructions above, will lead to a 0 grade.

This extra credit assignment is to be done on your own.  NO COLLABORATION OR SHARING with any other members of class.

Absolutely no extensions given to complete this assignment.  Remember this is extra credit.  It is due December 10th
