Your extra credit assignment consists of writing a clear introductory paragraph to an essay. You won't actually write the entire essay, just the introduction. The introduction must follow our guidelines for effective introductions, and provide a clear text-based argument, with stakes.

This introduction will be for a paper that would answer the question: What is the impact of the symbol of [insert symbol] on a contemporary text?

The text you examine should have been created within the last thirty years. It can be a film, television show, work of literature, or visual work of art. For example, you can answer the question, what is the significance of snow in Game of Thrones? This is just an example, and it is clearly a very open question. Your answer/ argument/ introduction would have to be narrowed and specified further.
