essay 4 to 6 pages
OUT-OF-CLASS WRITING ASSIGNMENT
The student is to submit a 4- to 6-page written assignment demonstrating an appreciation for aesthetics and creative activities. This activity will focus on Learning Outcome #9 (Aesthetic Appreciation) and #1 (Communicate Effectively).
The assignment must be typed IN YOUR OWN WORDS, on 8 ½ x 11” paper, stapled on the top left-hand side, 11-point font size, Times New Roman font, and double-spaced, four to six pages long. Your name and class meeting days/time are typed on the top right-hand side. If you copy and paste from a website, textbook, or another student's paper, then you will receive a zero for the course. ALWAYS FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!
Your paper must be less than 20% originality on Turnitin. This means that the maximum you can have is one quoted sentence per paragraph to support your thesis. Everything else must be written in your own words.
OUT-OF-CLASS ASSIGNMENT: PROFESSION RELATED
OBJECTIVE: This assignment will focus on two Learning Outcomes:
Learning Outcome #9--The student will demonstrate an appreciation for aesthetics and creative activities by incorporating a response that is significantly analytical, and is supported with concrete details, personal associations, and personal perceptions.
Learning Outcome #1--The student will communicate effectively using writing skills.
YOUR IDEA MUST FIRST BE APPROVED BY ME.
One purpose of being a student is that you apply what you have learned in your future profession. You are required to write about an original idea of how you will infuse an artistic activity or product in your profession. Be as creative as possible, yet realistic. This assignment will focus mainly on Learning Outcome #9, which states, "The student will demonstrate an appreciation for creative or aesthetic activities." You may only use one of the following artistic disciplines in your paper: Music, Painting (color), and Literature. (If your major is Architecture, Photography, Film, or Dance, then you may use that discipline in your paper, but only if it is your major.)
Here is what you must do:
Picture yourself in your desired profession. Come up with a scenario in which you were given a project to do. State the reasons why this project is necessary in your career. The idea of the project must consist of an aesthetic activity. This aesthetic activity must incorporate what you already know about your profession (major). You are to show step-by-step, in detail, how you will go about creating this project. You must provide details about your career field (cite your sources) and the aesthetic activity (cite your sources). Remember that this is your invention, so the sky's the limit! Let your creativity flow. I may help you out with the research and the details, but you have to come up with the aesthetic product. The best way to approach this paper: Begin the first two to three paragraphs of your paper describing your profession and the artistic activity you wish to include in your project. Also include the reasons why it is needed. The next five to seven paragraphs should include details about what you know about your profession. It should only be about your profession; do not talk about how you will get a degree or any schooling whatsoever, just focus on what you do daily in your profession. Provide details about how you will go about creating the profession side of the project, focusing on the skills and knowledge you learned about your profession. Cite your sources. The next five to seven paragraphs should be about the details of the artistic field. Focus on what you know about the artistic discipline you picked. For example, if you choose music, then focus on what you have researched about music; if you choose art, then focus on what you have researched about art. You should only write about the artistic activity, nothing else. Cite your sources. Be sure to use terminology and concepts associated with the artistic field. Go to Content- ->Assignment: Interview-->Class Notes-->HUM1020 The Disciplines for an extensive list of terms commonly used in various artistic subjects. The final two to three paragraphs should be your concluding paragraph putting your profession, the artistic activity, and the project together. Here is where you bring it all together presenting the entire project and its details. Checklist for Essay: 1. Write about your profession, two pages. Describe in detail what you do in your daily work life in that profession. 2. Write about one, single art discipline. Go to HUM1020 The Disciplines to see the list of terms and concepts associated with the art discipline. You must use these terms and concepts in your essay. 3. Show how you will incorporate the art discipline into your profession.
