Many groups and most people have very firm ideas about identity. Quite often, those ideas are based on little more than suppositions and prejudice…but this does not mean they are entirely wrong in their beliefs. Where can one find the common ground between DuBose Fall 2017 ENGL 1130 Major Assignments 2 science and personal opinions when it comes to identity? How can science work together with ideology? Pick a current belief about some form of identity with which you at least partially disagree and engage it in a Rogerian Rhetorical Analysis (as per chapter 6 of Writing in Response). Use science not as a weapon to vanquish your foes, but instead try to find some common ground with your subject.
