SECOND MAJOR ESSAY PROMPT

Inspired by a 1935 French film comedy and its early 1950s’ remake, Some Like It Hot was a critically acclaimed and popular film comedy when it was released in 1959, providing signature roles for Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.  It has been praised by critical surveys as the funniest movie comedy of all time.

Incorporating no less than three quotes from E. B. White’s essay “Some Remarks on Humor,” determine whether and why the movie is funny or not, offering specific examples to prove your points.

Conclude what you write with what you believe is the thesis for the movie, and whether and why the thesis is valid or invalid.
