Introduction

Music can be a powerful part of our lives; this might be why musical theatre is such a popular genre of the performing arts.  Sometimes a song can capture the depth and significance of a moment in ways that dialogue alone sometimes misses.

Prompt 

Think back over your life and pick a significant moment or experience: when you met your significant other; graduating from high school; losing a loved one; the first time you visited your favorite place.  How you define "significant" is up to you.  Now imagine recreating that moment as a musical number onstage. What song, or type of song, would capture that moment?  Why did you make that choice?  What would it be like onstage?  A big, elaborate ensemble number with bright costumes and flashy visual effects?  A soft, slow ballad between two stars?  A stirring, powerful solo?  Give an description of that scene from a musical.
