Globalization has led to increasing environmental degradation. Pressure on the environment is expected to continue to build due to population growth, industrialization, and development among other factors. With governments willing to do little in many cases, businesses are increasingly taking matters into their own hands.  Two frameworks that have developed to help businesses reduce their environmental impacts are the Life Cycle Assessment approach (cradle-to-grave) and a closed loop processing approach (cradle to cradle).  Compare and contrast these two approaches to business sustainability.  What factors might make one approach preferable to the other?  Hint – think about this from the perspectives both of businesses and of host countries.
