In any era of change, there is a reaction against the changes that are surrounding the public at large. In the 1920s, change was obvious as, for the first time, more Americans lived in cities than on farms, women asserted their independence in multiple ways, many flaunted the law in speak easies and yet others began to crack open the way for African Americans to be accepted as equals in the society.
