Equity trading
your first assignment, will participate in a networked trading simulation on rutgers.etraderex.com using the following parameters:
1. If the last letter of your last name is a vowel, then you will be buying.
2. If the last letter of your last name is a consonant, then you will be selling.
3. Take your age, including number of months as a fraction of a year, so, if you are 23 and 4 months, the number is 23.33, then multiply that number by 30, so that number is 699.9, then add 500, which would then be 1199.9, and then round to the nearest whole number, which would be 1200. The ending calculation is your trading mission.
4. You are to use only limit orders in executing this assignment.
Follow your position throughout the trading day and take at least two screen shots: one around "noon," and another after market close. Grading for this assignment will be as follows:
A. Achievement of your final position mission: 40%
B. Discussion of your trading activity, including how you decided to trade the way you did: 50%
C. Relative average buy/sell prices compared to VWAP.: 10%
The general structure of your written report should include your name, the inputs into the simulation, and of course, a discussion of the trading day's outcome. Incorporating screen shots, with explanations, is a good idea. Feel free to add more items for clarity, but keep the report to no more than two pages. Include your written report as an attachment to this assignment.
The main purpose of this assignment is to have you better understand how implementation decisions impact your performance.
