Remember, your task is not to summarize the text, but rather to make an argument about it. I want you to come up with a thesis of your own, but you should consider some prominent aspect of a text’s themes, its narrative techniques, or other literary aspects of importance to that text. (It would also be a good idea to check with me about ideas you are considering your paper well in advance of the due date.) You must support your thesis with compelling textual evidence from the primary source, including direct quotes with proper MLA citations. You must also incorporate at least one peer-reviewed literary journal article in a way that is relevant to the argument you are making.
