The first essay for this course asks students to use the ideas of Judith Lorber in “The Social Construction of Gender” as a springboard for their discussion. 

Be sure to:

- cite and analyze passages from the texts for support.

- underline your thesis.

- offer a title for your essay.

- include the MLA style of documentation. (Consult BB for appropriate MLA style  

of citation and documentation).

- include a Works Cited page alphabetically listing the sources you’ve consulted. 

The Works Cited page must be a separate page and is not part of page length.

- proofread carefully.

- submit your essay onto Turnitin.com (info. is on our syllabus).

For Draft One:

Students will write self-reflectively about their intellectual processes as they read Judith Lorber’s piece “The Social Construction of Gender,” and discuss what makes this text complex. They should engage particular questions or problems that arise.
