What is your major in college? My Major is public health. My goal with this major is to become a high school PE teacher.

Have you taken any courses that have focused on aging or older adults? Please describe.

No I have not.

Describe how your own beliefs/perspectives/values/actions/attitudes and knowledge impact others around you.

I would say your personal beliefs have a big impact on the people around you. In most cases the people you are around the most probably share a lot of the same beliefs. Whether that's religion, politics, or just basic human life. I personally keep people around me who have similar values in life. Loyalty is a big value of mine. Your actions and attitude obviously affect the people around you. I don't think my knowledge really affects the people around me because that is just what I know and has nothing to do with other people.

Describe how older adults may be marginalized in society (socially, historically, geographically, and/or culturally).

The only ways I can think of older adults being marginalized is how young people a lot of times don't want to listen to them for whatever reason. I also see it because there are jobs that are looking for younger people to get the job over an older person.

Describe how older adults contribute and engage in society.

What are your personal successes and barriers in engaging in intergenerational communication?

I think older adults help a ton in the community in mentor roles. I think when younger people accept knowledge from older adults it is very helpful. I have personally been able to gather plenty of useful information through older adults. An example of that is having older coaches that have helped me in my life.
