English Homework
Topic
Even though each person is an individual with the ability to act in completely unique ways, throughout our existence as a species, we have shown our ability to share behaviors with large groups of others. We have learned to identify ourselves with large groups of others based on religious beliefs and more recently, national borders. These identities and their behaviors are called culture.
Often culture manifests in the ways that people interact, but since the Coronavirus pandemic, individuals have been discouraged from engaging with each other in public spaces. Interestingly, the attempt to create physical distance between individuals gave culture new ways of expressing itself. In some cases, as in India, the nature of a culture resists the social distancing orders. In the United States, we have seen how our own culture reacts to the current situation. In doing this assignment, consider American culture as you have witnessed through the media, or consider your more immediate cultural environment, such as your family, neighborhood, ethnic background, or city. All of these could considered the culture that the prompt refers to below.
