English final exam

  • The exam is an essay test, consisting of three essay questions.  You need not write complete, fully developed essays, and I will take into account that these are written in one two-hour period, but there should be some specific references from the works and solid reasoning in your essay responses.
  • To prepare, review the works we’ve read during the term so that you can write about them without having to spend a lot of time searching through your text (You will not have time to search leisurely through your text, trying to find specific passages; instead, re-familiarize yourself with the works BEFORE you take the exam).  You should be familiar enough with the works to refer to specific events within them.  You may use brief quotations when appropriate.  If you read the works when they were first assigned, a general review will be sufficient.
