Length: In a class where the minimum word count is 600 words, try not to exceed 800 words. If the writing is noticeably longer than required, it can likely be made more concise and clear by editing out excessive details.

MLA Format: Revisit your notes on MLA formatting or consult reliable sources such as Purdue Owl for specifications on formatting. Focus specifically on cover page requirements, margins, line spacing, and paragraph structure. Also review handbook pages 96, 103, and 108 for examples formatted for this class.

References: References are not required for MLA assignments in this class. The requirement is a 600–800-word response.

Draft Quality: The draft mostly follows the required format. However, there are a few errors. Conduct a thorough review based on all information provided in class and in the text. Then submit before the Canvas deadline.

ENC 1101 Introduction: The introduction should include a strong hook or attention-getter, a correctly formatted thesis statement, and clear topic sentences that preview the main points to be developed in the body paragraphs. Since it is also a paragraph, it should be at least 100 words.

Comparison Body Paragraphs: Each body paragraph should develop the same points for each subject. Neither subject should receive more detail than the other. Maintain balanced and equal discussion of both subjects on each point.
