ASSIGNMENT

This Discussion Board is centered on the film that you are watching this week. Precious knowledge gives us keen insight into the systemic issues in our public schools like high drop out rates, lack of resources/funding for students and buildings, and the need for caring and culturally relevant teachers. The documentary also shows the how beneficial Ethnic Studies teachers/teaching can be to empower students and help them be successful in their education. Thus, I want you to discuss your classmates what was an important fact/idea/personal story/issue presented in the film. Your post needs to include the following to receive credit (2pts):

· your general thoughts on the film (good, ok, not good, etc..)

· something important you learned from the film about issues in public schools  OR  the power Ethnic Studies has to help students

· You will need to include one reference the film in your post: "I was shocked that some teachers at the kids' school felt that the students didn't care about learning (Precious Knowledge)." 

· the post should be  AT LEAST  150 words in length
