Answer the following questions from the reading. Also spark notes is a great source for better understanding 

1. In chapter 4, we return to Yunior's story, finally learning his name and his relationship with Oscar and the de Leon family. How has his role changed, i.e., what is it now? Why have a guy who is Oscar's opposite in every way (except for his secret nerd affinity) tell Oscar's story? Why not have Oscar tell his own story? Be specific in your response.
2. Discuss Diaz's use of Yunior. What is Yunior's weakness and how does it affect his character? Does his character change? Is he redeemable?
   
3. We flash even farther back in time again in Ch. 5 to Abelard's story. How is Oscar's family's story also his story?

1. How did you react to the ending of Oscar's story? Do you see it as a happy ending or tragic? Defend your answer.
2. We read this fascinating sentence in John Lingham's review of Wao: "Indeed, I can think of no other novel that contains so much brutality, torture, rape, murder, and suicide, yet nevertheless feels fun throughout." Do you agree with Lingham's statement? Is Wao full of disturbing stuff? And does Díaz make it all seem fun and light, in spite of it all? Why do you think Díaz mixes such atrocities with such lightheartedness in Wao?
3. Junot Diaz’s A Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao can be described as a “postmodern mash-up.” Briefly explore Diaz’s novel as both postmodern and a mash-up (there is certainly crossover here) of the immigrant experience.
