 For this assignment, you will create a written analysis of one of the assigned texts in the course, focusing on one literary element we have studied—characterization or setting. Be sure to choose a story from the course that you have not previously worked on. (I chose “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe.)

Your analysis must also incorporate at least two sources of literary criticism from the Gale Literary Sources database in the Alabama Virtual Library. You will integrate these sources into your work through parenthetical citations and a works cited section. This assignment provides experience in locating reliable critical sources and weaving them into a formal discussion of literature.

When you submit your documented literary analysis, make sure it meets the following requirements:

• Contains at least two full pages of written content (not including the works cited section)
   
• Uses two outside sources of literary criticism
   
• Contains no plagiarism
   
• Follows MLA format:
   
  • Double spacing
     
  • One-inch margins
     
  • Required student and course information at the upper-left of the first page
     
  • A running header with your last name and page number on each page
     
• Includes parenthetical citations and a works cited section
   
• Does not reuse previously submitted work, nor repeat a previous project on the same story
