Introduction to the Topic - Suicide Awareness
Suicide is a leading cause of death globally, especially among teens and young adults.
Stigma and lack of awareness often prevent people from seeking help.
Suicide prevention includes identifying warning signs and offering timely support.
Campaigns aim to destigmatize conversations about mental health and suicide.
Understanding mental health challenges can save lives.
Suicide is a serious and important problem in the entire world. It ranks within the top ten major causes of death, especially among teenagers and young adults. Unfortunately, most people at risk of suicide and mental disorders would avoid seeking help due to the stigma placed on suicide and mental illness. Awareness is the beginning of effective suicide prevention, and early recognition is oftentimes the most crucial factor in life-saving intervention. Public campaigns are supposed to create an enabling environment in which people discuss more openly issues of mental health, feel free to discuss their struggles, and actually encourage others to do so with a view to seeking help. Understanding the mental health challenges that people go through is important for intervention purposes, and this makes suicide prevention a social or collective responsibility of both the community and the networks of support.
2
Goal - Behavior Change
Objective: Encourage individuals to recognize signs and seek help.
Promote openness about mental health struggles.
Encourage people to offer support to others in need.
Reduce stigma around suicide and mental health issues.
Inspire the audience to actively support suicide prevention efforts.
The purpose of this suicide awareness campaign is mainly to bring about behavior change by making communities and individuals more aware of the warning signs of suicidal thoughts and to intervene where possible. It will break down barriers to discussing mental health, ensuring openness and support within the community. By calling upon people to lend a helping hand to persons with suicidal thoughts, this campaign will make possible a culture of caring and empathy. Apart from that, stigma associated with mental conditions must be reduced so that people can get motivated to take action for their own life and others. Finally, proactive engagement inspires the people to take action to support the programs for preventing suicide and improving mental health.

Mann, Michel, and Auerbach (2021) review evidence-based suicide prevention strategies.
Emphasizes the importance of early identification and intervention for at-risk individuals.
Highlights the success of screening programs in schools and healthcare settings.
Advocates for community involvement and education to reduce suicide rates.
Stresses the need for accessible mental health services, particularly for high-risk groups.
One of the major academic contributors to this campaign is the 2021 study carried out by Mann, Michel, and Auerbach, "Improving Suicide Prevention through Evidence-Based Strategies: A Systematic Review," published in the American Journal of Psychiatry. This review has underlined the efficiency of different evidence-based strategies for suicide prevention by first of all focusing on early identification and intervention. The study further looks at global prevention approaches whereby screening programs in schools and health settings have shown promise in identifying individuals who are at a high risk. Besides, community involvement and education are strategies that may lower rates of suicide. The review also calls for accessible services in mental health, especially for the population of high-risk groups, and advocates for an integrated, multilevel approach with respect to efforts of suicide prevention.

Title: "Understanding the Warning Signs of Suicide Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health." (Carthage Area Hospital.)
Provides detailed descriptions of suicide warning signs.
Encourages people to be vigilant and act when signs are noticed.
Discusses the importance of listening and offering support.
Lists resources like hotlines and counseling services.
Focuses on the impact of community and peer support.
Carthage Area Hospital provides the web resource, "Understanding the Warning Signs of Suicide Breaking the Stigma Around Mental Health." It is a very practical and accessible source, with a detailed look at what kind of warning signs there are that someone intends to commit suicide. It encourages them to be on high alert whenever they see those warning signs in others. The source emphasizes that listening can be the most potent expression of this: "nonjudgmental listening" can provide the support that may make a life-saving difference. It also draws to its support the easy availability of resources through hotlines and counseling services whenever needed. Carthage Area Hospital guides toward a community-based approach to suicide prevention with peers and family playing an important role.

Provides evidence of the effectiveness of prevention campaigns.
Highlights the importance of accessible mental health care.
Emphasizes the role of family and friends in early detection.
Encourages public awareness initiatives and policy changes.
The resource from NIMH, "Suicide Prevention: Facts and Statistics," outlines statistics on the issue of suicide and how it might be prevented. The source offers important data on the populations most vulnerable to suicide, indicating which age brackets and communities face the greatest risk. It also illustrates successes from previous suicide prevention campaigns, providing evidence that public awareness and early intervention programs do work. Besides, NIMH states that easy availability of mental health care is essential for prevention to take place. It also enumerates the importance of family and friends being more aware of recognizing warning signs early on as a possible suicide. And lastly, it calls for policies to make mental health a priority, with an increasing support structure.

Creating the Video - Concept and Design
Target audience: Teens and young adults (high-risk group).
Tone: Compassionate and encouraging.
Message: “Your voice matters. You can save a life.”
Use animation to depict scenarios showing warning signs and intervention.
Include hotline numbers and mental health resources at the end.
This campaign video targets teenagers and young adults, both being high-risk groups for suicide. It will be sensitive yet encouraging, making the audience feel that their difficulties in mental health are valid and that support is always available. As such, the key message "Your voice matters. You can save a life," emphasizes reaching out to those who may struggle. The video will animatedly portray real situations where warning signs are identified and appropriate interventions made. The video will also include very useful resources-hotline numbers and links to mental health services-at the end, so as to provide immediate assistance. This approach ensures emotional engagement along with actionable information.

Conclusion and Call to Action
Every life matters, and suicide can be prevented with awareness and support.
Encourage viewers to learn the signs and be proactive in helping others.
Promote the message: “You are not alone; help is always available.”
Urge people to spread awareness and make mental health a priority.
Share resources and support systems within the community.
The last slide contains the key message: every life matters; no one has to die by suicide, which is preventable through cumulative awareness and action. It calls upon the audience to learn the warning signs of suicide and be observant to support individuals around them. No one, the message elaborates, should be left to feel they are alone in their struggles, for help could always be sought out from various resources. This campaign advocates for a society of supporters through the reassuring message, "You are not alone." It aims at making mental health less taboo to talk about. Lastly, this video will encourage viewers to make people aware within their circle and to get involved in the local suicide prevention efforts as an attempt to make mental health everybody's concern.
