Both The Cuban Swimmer and The Sound of Voice feature characters who face the misunderstanding of their society, and, to an extent, the people close to them. Compare these two works, talking specifically about whether these characters can overcome these prejudices and expectations to take their lives into their own hands. Make sure to look at the mysterious endings of these stories. Do you think something supernatural or miraculous is happening - or do you think the author meant the ending symbolically (or perhaps both)?
This assignment should be 2-3 paragraphs in length, will be rated on a ten-point scale, will not be graded on grammar, and will count for 2% of the final grade.
