Week 3 - Discussion 2

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric  for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.
 

Emotional   Intelligence

 Complete the What's Your EQ? quiz.  After taking the quiz, discuss the following:

• The website describes Emotional Intelligence as the      “ability to perceive, control, and evaluate emotions.” Did you agree or      disagree with the results of your assessment?  Articulate reasons to      support your answer.
• Emotional Intelligence is sometimes referred to as      “People Smart” strategies.  Emotional intelligence skill sets are: 
  • Self-awareness
  • Social Skills
  • Optimism
  • Emotional Control
  • Flexibility 
• Describe a situation at work, home or social gathering,      where emotional intelligence may  have helped the situation. Some      examples include: dealing with your teenager, an upset co-worker, a      disgruntled PTA member, a toxic teacher, etc.  
• Identify one scholarly article from the Ashford      University Library on Emotional Intelligence (No article can be repeated      within the discussion so review the resources your peers have already      posted before posting your initial post).  Summarize the article and      share how the article key points could be used in your situation at work,      home or social gathering.

 Guided Response: Your initial post should be a minimum of 300 words. Post a minimum of two follow-up responses to peers by Day 7. Each peer response should be a minimum of five full sentences.  Compare and contrast your initial post with your peer’s post. How is the assessment similar or different?   Provide three examples of how this topic is relevant to health informatics. Your three required posts must be on three different days of the week.
