ELDER ABUSE: IMPACT IN SOCIETY

´Elder abuse has impact on the personal, family, as well as the societal level (Wang et al., 2015). 

´Impacts include loss of tangible or intangible things of the individual. 

´Elder abuse damages family relationship such as rift between siblings.

´Abused elder people need social support to live. 

ELDER ABUSE :MITIGATION

 ´Several strategies have been implemented to prevent elder abuse and mitigate its consequences (Yon et al., 2017).  ´ 

Prevention strategies include:

´ ´Public and professional awareness campaign ´Caregiver support intervention (Baker et al., 2016).   

CONCLUSION

  ´Elders abuse occurs when the caregivers fail to facilitate their due care on the old.

´Often, elder abuse lead to devastation and over-dependence. 

´

´In some instances, it results in stress and even depression due to isolation in the society.
