 Interacting with the youth as a police officer or correctional officer in a detention center can be difficult. The youth have brains that have not fully developed and matured. They are influenced easily by their peers and often view law enforcement as the enemy.

• What are some changes that can be made by law enforcement to better communicate with the youth?
