Instructions:

1. Research Your State: 

· Investigate the legal definition of child abuse and neglect in your state. 

· Identify the requirements and responsibilities of mandated reporters in your state. 

· Summarize your findings in a clear and concise manner. 

2. Select Another State: 

· Choose one other state for comparison. 

· Conduct similar research on the definition of child abuse and neglect and the requirements for mandated reporters in that state. 

3. Compare and Contrast: 

· Write a comparative analysis highlighting the similarities and differences between the two states. 

· Discuss how these differences might impact child welfare and advocacy efforts. 

Deliverables: 

· A written report (3-4 pages) that includes: 

· An introduction explaining the importance of understanding state-specific laws on child abuse and neglect. 

· A detailed summary of your findings for both states. 

· A comparative analysis section. 

· A conclusion reflecting on the implications of these differences for child welfare professionals. 

Formatting: 

· Use APA Style (most current edition) for citations and references. 

· Include a title page and a reference page (not included in the page count). An abstract is not required for this assignment. 

· Use 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins.
