A doctoral journey prepares students to become researchers through learning the research process, culminating in the writing of a dissertation.

Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following:

· What is a dissertation?

· What will it be like for you to write a dissertation? What excites you about the process? What challenges do you expect to encounter?

Note: If you are not writing a dissertation, share a potential research project you will complete. What excites you and what might challenge you about this project?

Include your own experience as well as 2 citations from peer-reviewed academic journals, industry publications, books, and/or other sources that align with or contradict your comments. Cite your sources according to APA guidelines. If you found information that contradicts your experience, explain why you agree or disagree with the information.

Basic  research and  applied  research are similar yet provide different outcomes.

Write a 250- to 300-word response to the following:

· After reading the Week 1 Overview and Ch. 2 of  The Action Research Dissertation: A Guide for Students and Faculty from the  University Library , think about your future study. What method, basic or applied, seems most appropriate for your project? Explain your position.

Include your own experience as well as 2 citations from peer-reviewed academic journals, industry publications, books, and/or other sources that align with or contradict your comments. Cite your sources according to APA guidelines. If you found information that contradicts your experience, explain why you agree or disagree with the information.
