Many of the most difficult and controversial questions about schools in American society end up in the courts, and Joel Spring discusses a number of very significant cases throughout Americn Education.   A number of them  involve diversity and equality.   Brown versus Board of education, which ended school segregation in the US and Title 9, which mandates gender equality in schools are two well known examples but there are many more.  As you read  the book, consider which of these cases seems the most significant, which  increased equality and recognized diversity  in the educational system and which did not.   If  need to refresh your memory about the cases included in American Education  use the index and look for laws and court decisions or review chapters 5-9.

Select two cases and write an informal but fairly well-developed paragraph or two about each. Try to use information from the Spring text OR additional information in the module to support your views about the cases.
